By the start of 1941, Ron had decided that he wanted a career in the US Navy, like his father - the US Air Corps wouldn't have him. He asked his contacts to write a number of letters of introduction for him. They make most interesting reading. The letters are listed below in date order, with a few comments attached. At least one (from Senator Ford) was definitely forged by Hubbard, and considerable suspicion attaches to Magnuson's letter as well.
