Subject: Subpoena details

It's Thursday, May 30, 1996 at 11:30am PDT.
I just got the set of subpoenas fedexed from Madame Kobrin to several places

All of the depositions and production of documents and things will
occur in early to mid June at various offices close to the deponent's site.

The ISP's must provide all documents (defined in the awe-inspiring way that
my production of records and documents did):

1. All documents relating to usage of your system by Grady Ward, including,
without limitation, logs, and billing records reflecting when Mr. Ward was logged on
to your system through his user account.

[I guess the criminal cult is going to attempt to implicate me in net highjinx
by showing I was *logged on* at the same time those highjinx occurred (or
seemed to occur -- mixmaster style anonymous remailers have a random wait and
reorder function as I recall). This kind of association is roughly equivalent
to saying that I was driving a car in New York at the same time as a
hit-and-run occurred in the city as evidence of my involvement (!)]

Maryland has to produce:

1. All documents relating to the postings (NOTs) which show "info.umd.edu"
as the "NNTP Posting Host," including, without limitation, the identity of the person
or persons who made the postings.

2. All documents relating to logs or other records kept by the info.umd.edu
computer of any individuals who were logged on to that computer, whether as
authorized University of Maryland account holders or as guests arriving at that
computer from another location, at the time the (NOTs) postings were made.

3. All documents relating to how records are kept by the info.umd.edu computer
of the source of postings made or messages sent through that computer.

[Note: According to an attachment to the U of M subpoena, specific student
records would be withheld IF the student had notified the University of their
objection to the disclosure of such "directory information" to the public,
according to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act ("Buckley Amendment").

This implies you students out there ought to write your university today in
order to preserve your privacy under the act. Keep a copy of your letter, send
by certified mail.]

The San Diego subpoena refers to postings made through nately.ucsd.edu
and the web pages

       http://burn.ucsd.edu/%7Eclyde/ot2.html

and

       http://burn.ucsd.edu/%7Eclyde/ot3.html

including the identities of the web page owners.
